Abigail Jo Shry Wiki – Abigail Jo Shry Bio

Abigail Jo Shry is a Texas resident charged with making a death threat against U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan, who presides over the federal criminal prosecution against former President Trump. According to federal court documents, Shry was detained on August 11, 2023.

The indictment against Shry, accused of transmitting any communication conveying a threat to harm another person in interstate or international business, was initially made public by Bloomberg Law on August 16.

According to the federal complaint, the 48-year-old resident of Alvin, Texas, also known as Abby Shry, allegedly threatened the LGBTQ+ community, “all Democrats in Washington D.C.,” and U.S. Representative Sheila Jackson Lee, a Democrat from Texas.

Shry Accused of Threatening to Kill Federal Judge

The criminal complaint states that on August 5, Abigail Jo Shry called Chutkan’s Washington, D.C. offices and left a voicemail. The message began, “Hey you stupid slave n*****,” according to the FBI.

The individual who made the call “was threatening to kill anyone who went after the ex president, particularly directly threatening to kill Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, all Democrats in Washington, D.C., and people in the LGBTQ community,” the FBI claimed in the complaint. Both Chutkan and Lee are Black.

The complaint claims that Shry sent a message saying, “You are in our sights, we want to kill you,” he continued, “If Trump doesn’t get elected in 2024, we will be coming to murder you, so tread lightly, b****.” Shry continued, “You will be attacked me, publicly, your loved ones, all of it,” the complaint claims.

According to the lawsuit, the FBI tracked the call to a phone held by  Abigail Jo Shry using the phone number. According to the complaint, when FBI investigators visited Shry’s house in Alvin, Texas, on August 8, she acknowledged that the phone belonged to her and that she had placed the call.

The FBI claimed that Shry, who also claimed in the call that “We want to kill Sheila Jackson Lee,” informed the agents she had no plans to go to Washington or Houston, where Lee was born, “to carry out anything she stated,” according to the complaint.

According to the FBI, Shry also stated: “If Sheila Jackson Lee comes to Alvin, then we need to worry.”

Charged

Abigail Jo Shry has been detained for making death threats against federal Judge Tanya Chutkan, who is in charge of the lawsuit against former President Donald Trump for allegedly interfering with the 2020 election in Washington, DC.

She acknowledged making contact during a “knock and talk” DHS agents conducted at her house three days later.

Although she informed the officers that she had no plans to visit Washington, DC, during their talk, she stated that if Lee were to arrive in Alvin, which is located approximately 30 miles south of Houston’s city center, “then we need to worry,” according to DHS officials.

Chutkan was chosen at random earlier this month to handle the government’s case charging Trump of collaborating with others to propagate disinformation about widespread voter fraud in his attempts to overturn the 2020 election. Chutkan was suggested by President Barack Obama in 2014 and was selected by him.

Lee is an elderly member of the House Judiciary Committee, which on January 6, 2021, one day after the disturbance at the Capitol, introduced charges of impeachment against Trump.

Chutkan and Lee are both black people.

Court Appearance

She is accused of sending a cross-state threat to harm another individual.

In the previous year, Shry was charged four times for participating in similar behaviour, including at least two instances that resulted in a conviction and 30 incarceration terms, Magistrate Judge Sam S. Sheldon wrote in the detention order for Shry.

On July 11,  Abigail Jo Shry was charged with misdemeanour creating fear of impending bodily severe injury.

When she called the threats to Chutkan’s office, she was free on bond in that case.

On September 13, Shry is expected to attend a complete bond hearing.
