According to reports, she was 50 years old.

Incident Details

The Wall Street Journal revealed how Chao unintentionally put her Tesla in reverse while driving home from a night out with friends.

Attempts to crash into the car were futile because of the kind of glass employed in it.

The American Automobile Association conducted tests that show the type of glass on the car is almost hard to shatter underwater.

Before the fatal collision, Chao was doing a three-point turn when he accidentally put the car in reverse rather than drive, causing it to crash into a pond and descend an embankment.

Chao contacted a friend in a panic as the car sank below the water, explaining her predicament. Over the following few hours, rescuers attempted in vain to save her.

One buddy tried to save her by jumping into the pond shortly after she made her call, but rescuers weren’t there yet.

Chao contacted a friend in a panic as the car sank below the water, explaining her predicament. Over the following few hours, rescuers attempted in vain to save her.

According to an incident record that the WSJ obtained, one fire department team arrived on the site 24 minutes after receiving a call.

According to one respondent, several sheriff’s department deputies could even step on the fully flooded truck as they tried to save Chao.

Setting up lighting and bringing in diving teams and a tow vehicle was necessary to help with the rescue effort.

The truck didn’t have a wire long enough to reach the automobile when it got to the site, and the driver reportedly feared getting electrocuted.

When the car was finally dragged out of the water, hundreds of liters leaked out when the doors were unlocked, and Chao was discovered to be unconscious.

Paramedics tried to revive Chao for 43 minutes after the attempt to start the resuscitation process.

It usually takes the driver and occupants of a sinking automobile around 60 seconds to leave before the vehicle becomes very difficult to escape.

Investigation

As part of a criminal investigation, the terrible death is currently being looked into, according to the Blanco County Sheriff’s Office.

The Blanco County Sheriff’s Office stated in a letter to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton that “this incident was not a typical accident.”

“The Sheriff’s Office is still investigating this accident as a criminal matter until they have sufficient evidence to rule out criminal activity, even though the preliminary investigation indicated this was an unfortunate accident.”

No other information was provided on the type of criminality that would have affected Chao.

In reaction to The Journal’s article on Friday night, Chao’s spouse only responded, “We are heartbroken.”

Family Statement

Chao’s father, James S.C. Chao, remembered his youngest daughter as ‘thoughtful, kind and devoted’ and much ‘charismatic and visionary leader.’

He said in a statement: ‘It is with a heavy heart and deep sadness that I announce the passing of my beloved youngest daughter, Angela Chao.

‘Angela Chao is a brilliant woman, a charismatic and visionary leader, and much-loved by all her sisters, our entire family, and friends.

”As a daughter, sister, mother, aunt, wife, and friend, she was unfailingly filial, thoughtful, kind and devoted.’

The family added: ‘As a trailblazer for women in the executive suite, she inspired others to pursue their dreams. She also loved music and tried the French horn as her instrument when young, insisting on carrying it herself to every lesson.

‘These early experiences created a lifelong, passionate commitment to the fine arts.
