Ben Platt is a well-known American actor, singer, and songwriter. He began his acting career as a child in musical theater, participating in performances of The Sound of Music and The Book of Mormon before rising to fame as the eponymous character in the Broadway coming-of-age musical Dear Evan Hansen.
Benjamin Schiff Platt is his full name, but he is better known in Hollywood as Platt. His performance in the latter earned him a Tony Award, an Emmy Award, and a Grammy. At the age of 23, Platt became the youngest single recipient of the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical for his performance in Dear Evan Hansen.

Early Life & Career
Platt was the fourth of five children born to Julie and Marc Platt in Los Angeles. His father is a theater, film, and television producer most known for his work on Legally Blonde, Into the Woods, La La Land, Mary Poppins Returns, and Wicked. He has two sisters and two brothers, one of them is actor Jonah Platt. His family and himself are devout Jews.
He attended Pacific Palisades’ Adderley School of Performing Arts, where he appeared in shows such as Bye Bye Birdie and Into the Woods. Platt graduated from Harvard-Westlake School in Los Angeles in 2011. He subsequently enrolled at Columbia University in New York, but left after just seven weeks to complete work on The Book of Mormon. He was a member of the Drama Club at Columbia University, and in college, he joined the Cappella group Nonsequitur.
Platt made his breakout performance in ‘The Book of Mormon.’ On December 19, 2012, the play opened at the ‘Bank of America Theatre’ and lasted for nearly a year. The critics were impressed by Ben’s performance. He repeated his part from ‘The Book of Mormon’ at the ‘Eugene O’Neill Theatre. The play was performed between 2014 and 2015.

His performance as Benji Applebaum in the 2002 musical comedy ‘Pitch Perfect’ earned positive feedback. Ben’s acting career benefited from the success of the picture, which also starred Anna Kendrick, Skylar Astin, Adam DeVine, and Brittany Snow.
He returned to the role of Benji Applebaum in ‘Pitch Perfect 2’ in 2015. The same year, he co-starred in the American comedy-drama film ‘Ricki and the Flash,’ opposite Meryl Streep and Sebastian Stan. In the film, Ben played Daniel, which did not go well.

Family
Ben is Beanie Feldstein’s best friend. They met during a mutual friend’s ‘Bat Mitzvah,’ a Jewish community coming-of-age celebration. They went to high school together and participated in various musical theatre productions afterwards. He owns a house in California.
