Dale Mooney, a Patriots supporter and father of two who died after being sucker-punched by another fan at New England’s game with the Miami Dolphins on the weekend, courageously saved the life of a little child on a New Hampshire beach years before.
Dale Mooney, who died on Sunday, risked his own life in July 2009 when he saw a youngster trapped between rocks on a jetty on Hampton Beach and raced to help her, reported to a local news article then.
“The waves were smashing over her, and she couldn’t even stay on her feet,” Mooney said of the near-tragic incident.
“She continued to fall in between the rocks, desperately trying to keep her head above water.”
According to the publication, the child attempted to collect her boogie board when trapped in the rocks as the water rose and wind gusts reached 30 mph.

A witness revealed Tuesday that the New England Patriots fan who passed away at a home game on Sunday had been struck twice in the head before the emergency.
Dale Mooney “suffered an apparent medical event” during the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game with the Miami Dolphins at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, according to Massachusetts State Police.
Witness Joe Kilmartin claimed that a fan wearing a Dolphins shirt simply reached across and struck the victim repeatedly in the face.

According to the office of the district attorney and a statement from Gillette Stadium, Mooney, 53, of Newmarket, New Hampshire, has been a loyal Patriots supporter and a season ticket holder for 30 years.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner would do an autopsy, according to Massachusetts State Police.
The NFL sent its sincere sympathies to Mooney’s friends and family, according to a spokeswoman for the league.
