Ilona Kaydanov, a gifted dancer and Stony Brook University graduate, was sprinting on the north edge of Harned Road in Commack when a 2022 Chrysler Voyager hit her and her siblings at 8:20 a.m., according to Suffolk County police.
According to authorities, Kaydanov was murdered, and her two younger brothers suffered injuries after they were hit by a car while jogging on the other side of a Long Island road Thursday morning.
Kaydanov, of Commack, was taken to South Shore University Hospital and later died.
Dennis, 20, and Joseph Kaydanov, 13, her younger brothers, were brought to Good Samaritan University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Her saddened instructor remembers the young woman, a member of the club Dance With Us Long Island, as committed and skilled.

Dancer Killed After Car Crashes Into Her
A 22-year-old ballroom performer was killed while out running with two of her younger siblings when they were hit by a car.
Police from Suffolk County raced to the scene, and all three siblings were taken to area hospitals. Ilona Kaydanov died from her injuries at South Shore University Hospital later that day.
Dennis Kaydanov, 20, and Joseph Kaydanov, 13, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were sent to Good Samaritan University Hospital for treatment. Joseph fractured both his legs and his collarbone, needing surgery.
Francis Floyd, 44, the driver of the Chrysler Voyager, and the vehicle’s two adult occupants, a 44-year-old lady and a 64-year-old man, escaped unscathed.

Authorities have not announced any charges, but the driver’s car has been detained for a safety check, and the collision is being investigated.
ABC7 video recorded the solemn scene, which included a dark SUV with an open side door and many police officers. Although no charges have been filed yet, the driver’s car has been seized for an inspection of safety, and an investigation into the event is continuing.

“I don’t feel anything,” Ilona’s grandma, Lubov Kaydanov, told ABC7. God must take me since I am elderly. She is relatively young.” The 22-year-old works in communications and just graduated from Stony Brook University with an MBA in marketing.
Local neighbours have expressed worries about sped vehicles on Harned Road. However, it is unclear whether speeding was a factor in the sad crash.

Ilona Kaydanov was incredibly intelligent, brilliant, ambitious, and compassionate.” “Tragic… she is a lovely soul who will be greatly missed,” stated another mourner.
