Katie Schneider, a Saratoga local, was last seen driving away from her home in Saratoga, west of San Jose, in her white Honda Accord on July 5, sparking a desperate search.
According to her mother, the corpse of a Saratoga adolescent who went missing more than a month ago has been discovered amid the wreckage of a car that crashed into a ravine in northern California.

Katherine, 17, left her possessions behind and drove away in her white Honda Accord “without informing us of her plans,” her mother, Nola Schneider, said in a July 23 Instagram post, appealing for help finding her missing daughter.
According to CBS News, deputies located the teen’s unoccupied, smashed automobile in Castle Rock State Park in Los Gatos, California—south of San Jose—on August 7.
Katherine’s whereabouts are unknown after she fled home last month.
Found Dead
A California adolescent who went missing in early July was discovered dead in a state park ravine, her family announced on Sunday.
According to the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office, Katherine Schneider vanished from her Saratoga, California, home on July 5.
Katherine, 17, left her possessions behind and drove away in her white Honda Accord “without informing us of her plans,” her mother, Nola Schneider, said in a July 23 Instagram post, appealing for help finding her missing daughter.

Ms. Schneider’s car was discovered last week in Castle Rock State Park, some 20 miles west of her home, and human remains were found nearby on August 12, according to the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office.
Schneider stated Katherine’s bones were discovered in a ditch near her vehicle on Sunday.
Family’s Statement
Ms Schneider’s mother, Nola Schneider, stated on Instagram that officials notified the family that the bones belong to her daughter.
“It is with sorrow that we have to tell you of the news that our much-loved Katie Schneider was killed in a car crash,” Ms. Scheider wrote.
The causes of the sad catastrophe are still being looked into at this time.
Ms. Schneider’s family praised her as a “bright light that brought emotional vibrancy to our everyday lives” in a separate message on a dedicated Facebook page.
“She exuded authenticity, thoughtfulness, a wicked sense of humor, and unwavering determination.” She showed us all how to live our best lives without limits.”
The family has requested privacy as they mourn her death.

The family expressed gratitude to local police, government agencies, private detectives, and friends who assisted in locating her.
They also expressed satisfaction with the non-profit Finding Kids and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Police Report
For weeks, search and rescue teams had been exploring parts of an isolated stretch of Highway 35 nearby Castle Rock State Park for signs of Ms. Schneider.
Detectives from Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, and Monterey counties were also participating in the search, with some workers accessing the steep terrain by ropes.
Nola Schneider said on Instagram on the one-month anniversary of her absence that her family was paying careful attention to law enforcement recommendations.
“We continue working with authorities and have avoided going publicly in part as we want to respect those who worked to find Katie Schneider,” said Nola Schneider.

Based on the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System, there are now 3,343 missing person reports open in California.
