The third-generation law enforcement officer, who was 30 years old, was shot and killed as he sat in his patrol cruiser at a stop sign in front of the department’s Palmdale station. There was no discernible reason. Not one suspect has been named.
CCTV footage from the Sheriff’s station showed the suspect’s car pulling next to Clinkunbroomer’s Sheriff’s cruiser as it had stopped at a stop sign.

Clinkunbroomer, who had just gotten engaged four days before his death, was found severely wounded by a civilian outside his sheriff’s station in Palmdale, some 60 miles north of Los Angeles, about 6 p.m. Saturday.
“He was murdered – ambushed – by a coward,” Luna revealed.
Clinkunbroomer’s Family
Luna read the Clinkunbroomer family’s message. “Our son Ryan was a devoted, hard-working deputy sheriff,” the statement read. ‘He was happy to work with his partners, whom he regards as brothers and sisters.”
Ryan made the “ultimate sacrifice,” according to them. He was “recently engaged to the love of his life” and the first-born son of his parents.
Luna stated that Clinkunbroomer’s father and grandparents worked for the Sheriff’s Department and that the officer “embodied the values of courage, selflessness, and a total commitment to justice.”
Clinkunbroomer posted images of family and friends on Facebook and a Sheriff’s Department badge with a black line across it.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department tweeted, “At approximately 6 pm, a LASD Palmdale Deputy was discovered in medical difficulty in front of the Palmdale Sheriff Station.” The deputy has been taken to a nearby hospital. More details will be provided later.”
