Scott McAfee Wiki – Scott McAfee Bio

According to Kemp’s news release, Republican Governor Brian Kemp named Scott McAfee to the Georgia 5th Superior Court District Atlanta Circuit.

Kemp selected McAfee to the court in 2022 in place of Christopher Brasher, according to Ballotpedia.

According to Law.com, the governor picked Scott F. McAfee from the list of four contenders.

“I will do my homework,” McAfee declared, according to Law.com, citing his previous position as Inspector General. “Lawyers can expect that I’ll have read their requests and will be prepared to dive into the issues.”

Judge Assigned to Oversee Trump Case

A federal judge who is a native Georgian has been assigned to the newly filed case accusing former President Trump and his co-defendants, accusing them of conspiring to change the outcome of the presidential election in 2020 in Georgia.

Scott McAfee was appointed to the Fulton County Superior Court in February after working as a prosecutor and as the state inspector general, where he was “responsible for investigating accusations of fraud, waste, and misconduct in the executive department of state government.”

When he was named inspector general in March 2021, Republican Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp termed him a “strong addition to my administration.”

“His expertise as a tough attorney prepares him to seek out fraud, waste, neglect, and corruption and bring those who break the law to justice,” Kemp added.

Before becoming IG, he was an associate US judge in the Northern District of Georgia and an experienced associate prosecutor in the Fulton County, Georgia, Atlanta Judicial Circuit. He prosecuted instances including drug trade, fraud, armed robbery, and murder in those capacities.

McAfee acquired his undergraduate degree in music from Emory campus, where he won a scholarship to play harp in the campus symphony, per his official biography. He graduated from the University of Georgia School of Law with a JD.

Career

According to his LinkedIn page, McAfee worked as a judicial intern for Georgia Supreme Court Justice Keith Blackwell and Georgia Supreme Court Justice David Nahmias in 2012.

According to Ballotpedia, Blackwell “was appointed by Republican Governor Nathan Deal on June 25, 2020” and was “included on President Donald Trump’s (R) June 2018 list of 25 possible Supreme Court candidates to replace Justice Anthony Kennedy on the court.”

According to Ballotpedia, Nahmias “was nominated to the state supreme court by Governor Sonny Perdue (R) on the 13th of August 2009,” and he was originally rated as a “mild Republican.”

McAfee served as a prosecutor for the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office, an attorney for the federal government in Georgia, and a prosecution in Barrow County, Georgia, according to ABC News.

According to his campaign website, Georgia Judge Scott McAfee has been married to Danielle McAfee and has two children.

McAfee and his spouse are college sweethearts, according to his official website, which includes a family portrait.

According to the website, “Scott meets his partner Danielle when studying UGA, and now they are happy parents of a pair of children, ages four and two.”

“A lifelong Georgian, McAfee grew up in Kennesaw and is now living in Atlanta with his wife and their two children,” Republican Governor Brian Kemp said in a news statement announcing his appointment to the bench.

Family

Frank Montgomery McAfee, Scott McAfee’s grandpa, was a Naval aviator during WWII.

Frank McAfee earned the title “Ace” by “destroying warplanes above Tokyo, Iwo Jima, and other Pacific battles.” He received the Prestigious Flying Cross and multiple Air Medals for his heroics. “Frank was recently informed that he will be honored into the Georgia Aviation Hall of Fame in April 2007,” according to his obituary.

According to the obituary, he eventually managed an auto dealership in Georgia and was wed to his wife Alice for 63 years. “Frank joined the Pacific Theatre in the fall of 1944, flying Hellcats off the USS Ticonderoga,” according to the obituary.
